Prevention programs in competitive sports

The cruciate ligament injury in soccer certainly represents the best researched and documented sports injury due to its presence in the media as well as its frequency. However, it is exemplary for many other sports injuries and we must assume that prevention programs can also lead to similar injury reduction in other body regions.

According to current studies, about 50 per cent of all serious knee injuries in competitive sports can be prevented by prevention programmes.

However, prevention also means accompanying the biological aging process with its effects on the human musculoskeletal system. Certain risk factors favor faster joint wear and tear, the premature breakdown of muscles or a more catabolic (degradation) metabolic state. The relationship of trust between you and your treating physicians should enable us to discuss even "unpleasant topics" such as weight, diet or lack of / improper exercise together. This is the only way to lay the foundation for "your very own personal prevention program".

We currently support the soccer club Bahlinger SC and the ice hockey club EHC Freiburg.
