My philosophy

The basic prerequisite for successful therapy and thus relief of acute or chronic complaints is a holistic approach. After a detailed, diagnostic anamnesis and a thorough clinical examination, the most modern diagnostic equipment in our practice helps to confirm the diagnosis.

In addition to conservative and operative orthopaedics, the Care of competitive and recreational athletes my professional activity. As team doctor of the Bahlinger SC as well as cooperation doctor of the EHC Freiburg, I attach particular importance to injury prevention as well as powerful rehabilitation after successful surgical therapy. Whenever possible, I will first Conservative therapy plan work out a treatment plan together with you. In addition to manual therapy, acupuncture, infiltrations as well as shock wave therapy, an individual physiotherapeutic training plan usually plays a central role.

In the case of acute injuries or persistent complaints, the most modern surgical procedures are used. Whenever possible, these are minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures. Your care is provided by me personally, from the initial contact to the performance of the operation and postoperative follow-up.

My Operational focus is in the field of knee surgery and sports traumatology as well as the therapy of osteoarthritis.

Since January 2018, Dr Tarek Schlehuber has been treating patients at Orthozentrum Freiburg together with Dr Volker Fass. The specialist in orthopaedics and trauma surgery specialised in knee surgery at an early stage. After his licence to practise and doctorate at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, his enthusiasm for the human musculoskeletal system and in particular for the complexity of the knee joint led to the gradual expansion of his conservative and surgical spectrum in this area during his stations in Breisach, Berlin and, since 2017, at the Loretto Hospital. Since 2019, the knee specialist has been responsible for reconstructive knee surgery (cruciate ligament and cartilage surgery) at the Loretto Hospital Freiburg as head physician in parallel to his work at the Orthozentrum. In addition to anterior and posterior cruciate ligament replacement surgery, meniscusand cartilage therapy, his focus is on endoprosthetics of the knee joint.

As a former scholarship holder of the Arthroscopy Working Group, Dr Schlehuber is involved in the training and further education of younger colleagues as well as the Freiburg AGA students. Over the course of time, numerous internships with renowned knee surgeons such as Prof. Angele in Regensburg or Prof. Siebold in Heidelberg have led to the constant further development and modification of his own techniques.

Born and raised in Central Hesse, her medical studies led her to Freiburg. Once he arrived, he began an intensive relationship with the city, its people and its surroundings, which continues to this day and has lost none of its charm. Married to a Freiburg woman, the father of two children lives at the foot of the Schlierberg. The former premier league footballer and track and field athlete can regularly be found in the Black Forest on his mountain bike or in the Rhine Valley on his racing bike. After his active career, his love for the sport of football lives on in the coaching of Bahlinger SC as well as active players of all ages from Freiburg and the surrounding area.
