New ways, old ties.

new ways old connection

Under new management, the Orthozentrum Freiburg is setting the course for the future with familiar faces.

Dear patients,

On 1 April 2021, I will hand over my orthopaedic practice to my successor, Dr Tarek Schlehuber. I do this with one laughing eye and one crying eye.

In Dr Schlehuber I have found a successor who, as a specialist in knee joint surgery, will both continue my professional work and carry on my values and ethos. Above all, he will be a reliable and empathetic contact for you, my valued patients. I therefore ask you to continue to place your trust in our practice! I myself will continue to be available to you as a team member of the new Orthozentrum with my many years of experience. In this sense, I am looking forward to a farewell that will also be a new beginning for all of us and wish my successor much success, as well as you: stay healthy! Thank you very much for your trust and loyalty that you have shown me over many years together!

Your Dr Volker Fass

Dr. Volker Fass not only founded the Orthozentrum, but also shaped reconstructive knee surgery nationwide for more than two decades. With his expertise, he will remain at Orthozentrum Freiburg as a trusted doctor and colleague.

Dear patients,

As a native of Hesse, my path led me via stations in Lucerne, Breisach, Berlin and Frankfurt to the Orthozentrum and the Loretto Hospital in 2018, where I work as a senior physician for sports orthopaedics in parallel to my practice.
for sports orthopaedics.

In our orthopaedic practice in the centre of Freiburg, our proven team treats the entire spectrum of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. I attach great importance to conservative therapeutic approaches and value the interdisciplinary cooperation with other specialist colleagues and physiotherapists.

My surgical focus in the practice and clinic is on reconstructive knee surgery(meniscus, cartilage including cartilage cell transplantation, cruciate ligament surgery, leg axis corrections) and the therapy of knee joint arthrosis.
of knee joint arthrosis. Whenever possible, minimally invasive, joint-preserving techniques are used. In addition to conservative and operative orthopaedics, the care of competitive and recreational athletes characterises the image of our practice. As team doctor of the Bahlinger SC and cooperating doctor of the EHC Freiburg, my team and I pay special attention to injury prevention and a strong rehabilitation after successful therapy.

I am very much looking forward to my new role as practice owner of the Ortho- zentrum Freiburg and will be happy to continue to provide you with orthopaedic care.

Yours sincerely, Dr Tarek Schlehuber

Author: Tarek Schlehuber, MD

As successor to Dr Volker Fass at the Orthozentrum and senior physician for sports orthopaedics at the Lorettokrankenhaus Freiburg, Dr Schlehuber treats patients from near and far for pathologies of the lower extremity. As a certified knee surgeon of the DKG and an active member of the working group for arthroscopy, he combines tried and tested with innovative techniques. In 2018, he himself had to undergo a major operation on the knee joint (conversion osteotomy) and found this change of perspective formative for his further professional activity.
